YouthCARE (Youth for Cultural Appreciation & Racial Equality) is a Twin Cities nonprofit organization with a successful 42-year history of providing education, employment, and leadership development opportunities to Minneapolis and St. Paul youth. YouthCARE’s mission is to promote respect for self and others, develop future leaders, and provide youth with positive multicultural activities and relationships with caring adults.

YouthCARE is seeking applicants as a DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT to work in our office in Minneapolis. [Job Posting PDF]

Scope of Position
The Development Assistant will work closely with the Coordinator of Development & Marketing to plan, organize, and implement YouthCARE’s annual development plan, including, but not limited to:

  • Write grant proposals for corporate, foundation, and government funding opportunities
  • Conduct research to identify prospective corporate, foundation, and government donors
  • Records, processes, and acknowledges gifts received in donor database
  • Maintain the fundraising plan, application status, and grant report process
  • Cultivate and maintain volunteer and donor relationships
  • Assist with individual donor campaigns such as the Annual Campaign and Year-End Appeal
  • May assist with special event planning and management
  • May assist with marketing and communication tasks

Qualifications

  • Enjoys interacting with youth and adults from diverse backgrounds
  • Detail-oriented and strong planning skills
  • Demonstrates a competence with technology including Microsoft Office and donor database software (eTapestry preferred)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Organized, self-directed and creative
  • Quick learner
  • Associate’s degree required; previous experience in related fields preferred
  • Available Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. and occasional evenings and weekends

Starting Salary: $28,000 to $30,000/year, depending on experience

Volunteers:

YouthCARE's Volunteer Program provides a wide variety of opportunities for adults to get involved.

  • Program Volunteers work directly with young people in one of YouthCARE's three programs: Camp Sunrise, YouthLEAD, or the Young Women's Mentoring Program
  • Policy Volunteers serve on YouthCARE's Board of Directors or on a Policy Committee.
  • Special Event Volunteers provide support to YouthCARE by assisting with special events such as fundraisers, Camp Sunrise Workdays, or by sharing a special skill or expertise such as carpentry or graphics arts.
