Jack Suttor Served as Camp Sunrise's First Board Chair
YouthCARE is saddened to learn of the death of Jack Suttor, 79, on Sunday (July 30). Jack was one of the pioneers of Camp Sunrise. As an employee of Northern States Power (now Xcel Energy), Jack worked with Craig Luedemann, Jerry Anderson, Wally Borchert, and Bruce “Bud” Palmer to establish Camp Sunrise in 1974. Jack became the first chair of camp’s Board of Directors in 1978 and continued to serve as a volunteer during the next 40+ years.
“Jack gave, unselfishly, many, many hours to the camp, the staff, and the kids involved. Jack (and Carolyn Suttor) was also a very dedicated and generous camp program volunteer. He will be missed by many,” said Craig Luedemann, YouthCARE’s retired Executive Director.
“Volunteers are the fabric of our community and we couldn’t do what we do for youth without the support of people like Jack," said Willie Dean, Ph.D., YouthCARE Executive Director. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Jack’s family and friends.”
