It is with a mix of sadness and gratitude that YouthCARE's Board of Directors announced last week that Willie Dean, Ph.D., will be retiring as the Executive Director of YouthCARE, effective December 31, 2017, in order to spend more time with family. Since March 2015, Willie has successfully led the YouthCARE organization, and while we will miss him and his leadership, we wish him the best of luck in his retirement.
The Board has already begun conducting a search to find a new Interim Executive Director. The Board’s search priority is to find the best-qualified individual to lead the YouthCARE organization into the future with strategic vision and programming direction, as well as to stabilize the organization and lead day-to-day operations. The Interim Executive Director will work with the Board and staff to position the organization for continuing success under a new permanent Executive Director. We invite you to visit our job posting online [HTML | PDF]. The Board’s goal is to have the Interim Executive Director in place by January 1, 2018.
Again, we cannot thank Willie enough for the dedication and passion he has given YouthCARE over the past three years. We are excited for the next chapter of YouthCARE as we continue to support our community through our important work to break down barriers and help youth of color succeed through YouthCARE’s mission, “To promote respect for self and others, develop future leaders, and provide youth with positive multicultural activities and relationships with caring adults.”
